[TM] C1 speech: Ice Breaker
Giving public speech is alway the least on my list. Stage fright and cold feet, butterflies in the stomach and blushing all the time. That's the motivation to join this club when I saw the email about forming this club in the first place. However, being an officer is completely out of my expectation when I joined this club. It's really challenging to be an officer, more specifically, to be a responsible officer outside our daily duty in the office. Let's see if it's gonna be biting off more than I can chew or just looking good!
Paradigms: time management, fast response and people skill!
My very first speech C1: (3'50", did not meet the minimal time requirement)
Who you are?
My name is Helen Ho and I worked as a system software engineer in Evaluation Test Development team. In English, our team develop software and hardware which run stress test to make sure the system work fine while the system is still under development. We help R&D engineers to understand and solve the issues found during the stress test. We also help the users to understand how to use our tools. Therefore, =>
Why you wanna join TM?
We need to do demostration on how to use our tools to our users. During my demostration I found my audience fell into sleep very often and asked questions which I metioned five seconds ago. I think it should be my problem instead of theirs. I tried to seek solutions from one of my friends who was a member of TM and she said, "go to TM, and you will find the answer." I guess I have found the answer since you guys are listening to me without your eyes closed (or probably you pretend they are open, thank you!).
That's pretty much what I am doing in the office. Outside the office, I learn new things from other people, such as japanese classes or different workshops from investiment to aerobic dancing. I like to try different things and see whether I can do it or not. In this case I can explore my cabilities or incapabilities. Like this Monday after the toe-tap dancing, which is the dancing you use your toes and heel, I finally realize that I have two left feet.
Despite my defeat on dancing, I still love indoor or outdoor sports. I also tried different sports at different stages of my life. I have tried basketball and volleyball and realize that it's a world full of really tall or fast-running people, and I also have tried snowboard and found that it's a world full of people with a few bones broken before. What I am really into now is biking, as you probably could tell from my skin tone and my muscle. I like to travel as well so biking is perfect since it combines both sport and travelling. If you are interested in biking, please contact me at xxxx. I am also a member of the water sport club and I will start my diving lessons pretty soon. I will love to share after my diving lessons with you guys what's edible or not edible under water in my later speech.
