[TM] C5 speech: You body speaks
Title: Helen’s Way
McKinsey way,
Everyday could be the last day
I am not trying to sell you the insurance package here. Life is short and the clock is ticking, and there are too many wonderful things in your life awaiting. You never know when it's the time. Picture yourself that you would like to have a dinner with a close friend you decided “maybe later”and cancel it because it's probably not your day and you are all worn out and tired. Unfortunately he is going to work in another country for good the next day and you thought “what if I had the dinner with him, I would be able to say goodbye to him in person.” That's typical in our daily lives right. These words “what if” are quoted in the sentence when you regret about something that you wish you should’ve done earlier, and it usually started from “maybe later”. I would like to try to avoid these “what if” as much as possible. I try to grab everyone chance if I can do it today, right now! Rather than put off the things at hand I would like to complete as many thing as possible every single day. That's one of the reason why I join Toastmaster because I would like to improve my speaking skills, and I think it should not be tomorrow, or next week, but it should be today! Take action now!
Not Quitting
I think from our history, those people who are very successful are those who does not give up that easily. I am not as smart as Einstein nor as beautiful as Jennifer Aniston. However I know if I give up easily I stand no chance to be successful. I think there is always a way to work things out if you are determined enough to make it happen. You would never know where it’s going until you get to the bottom of it. It's not easy hang on, not quitting, but the reward would be more than you expect. Look at me, I am standing here and deliver my 5th speech at the toastmaster club and keep going, and I have enjoyed the benefits the training over the past 6 months it have brought. Don’t quit, and the reward is yours.
Positive thinking
I am not saying that you would picture everything in a pinky, pubbly way, or over-optmistic. You definitely would like to konw both pros and cons when you take action or make decision, to be fair and square upon evaluation, and then try to find the best out of it where the chances might lay on. But how you look at the things around you would definitely affect how you deal with them. I am sure that you have heard the stories about two shoemakers who travel to
You might not want to be Helen after this speech, but if you agree on any one of the concepts, I hope it brings as many benefits to you as it did to me. Not quitting, positive thinking, and living everyday as it's the last day of life, that's Helen's way.
ToastMaster of the meeting.
